Roux Scholars take an educational trip to California!
Every two years the Roux family arrange an exciting trip to a land of great cuisine, top chefs, beautiful scenery and late bars, stuff dreams are made of!
For eleven lucky Roux winners, this dream also comes true. This year, flying to the sunshine state of the US, Michel Roux, Alain Roux and Brian Turner will be taking Andrew Fairlie, Sat Bains, Simon Hulstone, Andre Garrett, Adam Smith, Andrew Jones, James Carberry, Jonathan Harrison, Matthew Tomkinson, Steve Drake and Tom Barnes to experience the height of gastronomy.
Starting in San Francisco, the scholars will visit Michelin starred restaurant Benu, and then go across to Saison where this year’s winner Harry Guy is staged. After San Francisco the chefs will be wine tasting at some of the top vineyards in Napa Valley, they will visit Single Thread Farm, Fat Duck Chef Kyle Connaughton’s new venture aiming to stretch the boundaries of farm to table cuisine is hotly anticipated.
As if that wasn’t enough, the amazing itinerary also involves more 3 star Michelin magic at The Restaurant at Meadowood Hotel and the iconic French Laundry for a special dinner hosted by Chef Thomas Keller.
Not a bad trip to be on… we hope they all have an amazing time!
