Grunwerg opens a new door…

Grunwerg, the family company based in Sheffield has been distributing award winning products around the world for over 70 years, selling wide ranges of high quality products including cutlery, tea ware, cookware, premium knives, vacuum ware and barware… to name a few.

One of the reasons Grunwerg is so successful is because of the company’s close knit relationships with factories around the world. As pioneering importers and distributors they work closely with factories worldwide to develop new and innovative products, produced from the very highest quality materials to inspire and delight customers.

With over 70 years in the housewares industry, they know and understand their customer needs, and are dedicated to bringing new and unique products every year to the UK’s competitive housewares’ market. Their dedication has brought three popular series of Global knives to the UK, revolutionary travel mugs from Pioneer, award winning cookware from Commichef, the world’s first vacuum electric kettle from Vektra, a huge variety of high quality stainless steel teaware and coffee ware from Café Ole and Café Stal, and an ever-growing range of cutlery from Rockingham Forge, that even the Royal Family have enjoyed.

All of these products have been warehoused at Grunwerg’s Head Quarters in the steel city of Sheffield since its establishment in 1945; and now, after 70 years of success and a great amount of company and generational growth, Grunwerg is delighted to be opening a brand new showroom in London.

Based in the Business Design Centre in Islington, Grunwerg will reside in Suite 127 to showcase their most popular brands including Global Knives, Tojiro, Kasumi, Vektra, Rockingham forge, Café Ole and Café Stal. The new space will not only show London businesses the Grunwerg offering, but it will also give their London based customers a more local showroom to visit.

The new showroom will be officially opened on the 14th and 15th June 2016, during the Exclusively Housewares show. To celebrate the grand opening, customers will be invited to a champagne reception on Tuesday 14th and on Wednesday 15th, to officially cut the red ribbon there will be a very special appearance from Michel Roux Jnr and Emily Roux.

The Roux family have, for over thirty years been very close with the Grunwerg family through their mutual love of Global Knives. This has even led to a signature set of Global knives being made for Michel Roux Jnr, who for many years has been the Global Knives UK Ambassador.

Grunwerg is also one of the main sponsors for the prestigious UK cooking competition, The Roux Scholarship which began in 1984 by the Roux family and supports young talented chefs build their careers in a very competitive industry.

David Grunwerg, Director of Grunwerg says, ‘We are very excited to be opening a new London showroom and are delighted that Michel Roux Jnr and Emily Roux will be there to support it. This is a very exciting time for us, because not only are we celebrating our business growth with the new showroom, but we are also celebrating generations of great success and relationships within the industry.

As many people will know, Grunwerg is now in its third generation, and we share this celebration with the Roux family because they also have a third generation joining their family of chefs, Emily Roux, who has followed in her father’s footsteps (Michel Roux Jnr), who followed in his father’s footsteps (Albert Roux), who, successfully has made great impact on the gastronomic landscape of the UK in the last 30 years.

With all of this going on, we couldn’t think of a better time to celebrate then now! We look forward to the grand opening at Exclusively Housewares and invite everyone to see the new showroom, which will have special offers and a raffle ticket draw with an unbeatable prize!
